I got this interface about a month ago and it was working fine the first time and maybe the second time I used it. (I hadn't had a lot of time to record, so I didn't use it again until December 20 something.) But now it won't work. It's recognized as connected, but when I try to record on Garageband, nothing happens. It picks up no sound, and shows that no sound is being played. I know that everything is hooked up right because when I turn the computer input dial down and the phones dial up, everything sounds fine.
I tried taking it out and putting it back in and restarting the computer multiple times.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Trying to Use The Tascam US-1800 With Pro Tools 12+
Okay, first of all I plan on updating to a way better interface/console one day. The tascam us 1800 is now somewhat outdated and its discontinued on tascam's website for updates... which brings me to the mess that is;
Trying to get the Tascam Us1800 to at least playback with Pro tools 12.5-.7 or whatever the 'new new' driver is.
Ive had the interface for years now since high school and have always had problems with it running with different DAWs. Now that i'm studying to do this as a career I use Pro Tools 12, Logic X pro and rarely anything else. maybe Cubase or FL studio for old projects.
Right now when I try to open pro tools with the US 1800 as my main audio IO for either my desktop PC with more than enough power or my Macbook with equally as much power, it stops right out of the gate. It gives me an error message saying
'The selected audio device could not be initialized.
Please choose another audio device.'
So Ive gone through the whole ASIO setup and it was actually running this whole time too, i reinstalled it and the tascam drivers and every IO is enabled for it on the PC. After that message i get another immediately saying
'AAE error- 6117 was encountered.' and its just a cycle of me not even being able to change the IO inside the DAW.
I had the error before with the 'new' Version of pro tools 12 which was 12.5 i think and i just recently updated to 12.7 and now cant even enter most times i try.
Does anyone have any experience using this interface?
one way i've gotten around some issues in the past was to higher the latency on the tascam control panel which i know sounds horrendous, and it is, but it actually allowed it to at least playback waveforms at the same time as your eye could see them which is really the key in playback.
Just looking for some knowledge I guess. i already know the best answer to this which is ' get a better interface' so believe me i'm working on it.
Thanks!!
